Virginia Log A Load For Kids
The Virginia Log A Load For Kids Program is a grass roots organization of loggers, foresters, and forest industry supporters that raise funds for hospitals in the Children’s Miracle Network program. Virginia is affiliated with the National Log A Load group that has donated over 30 Million dollars in the 20 years it has been in existence. Founded in South Carolina, the program is active in 28 States.
The Virginia program, sponsored by the Virginia Loggers Association and supported by the Virginia Forestry Association and the Virginia Forest Products Association, is organized into regions based on the Children’s Miracle Network hospital areas. They include, Richmond with Children’s Hospital of Richmond and VCU Children’s Medical Center; Charlottesville and the UVA Children’s Hospital; Lynchburg and Covington, who support Carilion Clinic Children’s Hospital, Roanoke and Virginia Baptist Hospital, Lynchburg; Virginia Beach and Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters Hospital; and Southwest Virginia who support Children’s Hospital in Kingsport TN.
Each area group operates autonomously, but with the guidance and support of a State Chair Person. The program involves loggers donating the proceeds from a load of wood, thus the name, but now includes fund raising events from golf tournaments, softball tournaments, clay shoots, bingo, and a host of various raffles. Participation is open to all and the local groups are always looking for help. For contacts click on the "Contact Us" tab above.
